The Self-Harmony of the Bible - 1 (Part Six)

Was Jesus' First Sermon on a Plain or a Mount?
Some skeptics assert that Luke and Matthew disagree where Jesus' first sermon was. To them Luke says that it was on a plain while Matthew says it was on a mountain. This contradiction is caused by saying the Greek word "pedinos" means plain in Luke 6:17. The word can mean plain, but it isn’t restricted to that meaning. According to The NAS New Testament Greek Lexicon it can also mean “level.” So Jesus simply found a level place on a mountain (Luke 6:17; Matthew 5:1).

What Color Was Jesus' Robe?
Was Jesus robe purple or was it scarlet (John 19:2; Matthew 27:28)? Actually it could be both. Ancient purple was not as restrictive as it is today. Besides color changes appearance depending on the light level or angle of observation so each writer reported what they saw in harmony with the other.
